Becoming a Notary Public

Interested in becoming a Notary? Prepare to apply to become a Notary, or to use your current Commission wisely and lawfully. Learn about everything from the history of Notaries, to eligibility, powers and duties, procedures, troubleshooting, record keeping, documents, content and recommissioning. This class will be done on Tandberg through Sanford Adult Ed.

with Online Class
We will be offering an online Biology class with labs through Newport Adult Ed. This will be set up as a blended learning flipped classroom utilizing Plato for the academic section and face-to-face labs on Saturdays. The instructor is a certified Biology Instructor for 7-12 and they are limiting the class to 10 students. As soon as I have more information I will add it to the class.

Boston Flower Show
Enjoy the beautiful gardens and exhibits at the 2018 Boston Flower and Garden Show at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. The show will feature garden writers, landscape porfessionals, Master gardeners, local chefs and many venders along with instructional workshops and demonstrations. The $79.00 fee includes roundtrip motor coach transportation and admission to the show. The bus will depart from Old Town High School at 6:00 am with an arrival time of 11:30 (approximate) in Boston and will leave for the return trip home at 4:30 pm.

Boston Quincy Market Trip
Get your friends together and come join us for a one-day trip to Boston on Sataurday, May 2. The $79.00 fee will include roundtrip motor coach transportation from Old Town High School to Quincy Market. Once there, you will have 6 hours to tour the City, visit historical sights, go shopping or dine at restaurants of your choice and at your leisure. You don't have to worry about paying tolls, driving down and back or finding a parking spot in the city! Space is limited, so register early if you are interested. The bus will depart from Old Town High School at 6 am, arrive in Boston around 11:30, depart Boston at 5:30 pm.

Buying & Selling on EBay

We will take the "eBay process" of buying and selling from start to finish and all points in between. You will set up an active eBay account, actually list items, both "buy it now" and "auction" style. Hopefully everyone attending will have at least 10 listings each. Each night we will work on the listing, follow the sales progress and the instructor will answer questions and give out tips and tricks along the way. Please bring your laptops with you if you have one. There will be some available to use during the class if you do not have your own.

You will learn how to make frosting, use a pastry bag, how to make and decorate a cake using modeling chocolate, texturing, edible paints, etc. You will bring a pre-baked cake or cupcakes to each class with you. [EAST MILLINOCKET]: Eastern Maine Community College‘s Katahdin Higher Education Center in East Millinocket is pleased to announce the offering of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program in East Millinocket. Nursing assistants are nationally and locally one of the most in demand jobs in the allied healthcare field. A Nursing Assistant is an individual who provides basic care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This course consists of a combination of classes in theory, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Learners will be given the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to function safely in a clinical setting. Those who successfully complete the course and the State of Maine Board examination, will receive a State of Maine Certification for the basic Nursing Assistant. Candidates must present either a high school diploma, or a GED/HiSet. The enrollment process includes a criminal background check, application and placement testing. This course is scheduled to begin with instructor Sharon Holway, RN from February 5th – May 18th, 2018 Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30-5pm and Fridays 1-4pm at the Katahdin Higher Education Center in East Millinocket. Anyone interested in this training may qualify for financial assistance from Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC), provided you meet eligibility requirements as listed below: *You are a dislocated worker (legally entitled to work In the US and in compliance with Selective Service requirements) and have lost job due to no fault of your own. *You are a displaced homemaker needing to seek full time employment because your spouse is unemployed, underemployed or deceased *You have performed qualifying farm work and either over 50% of your days worked or earnings within any consecutive 12 month period within the past 2 years was within that qualifying farm work.
