Basic Fire Officer Program

The Maine Fire Service Institute has developed this new training program to help better prepare future and current fire officers to command and manage today's fire service. The goal is to give new and prospective officers the skills necessary to effectively manage and lead their companies and departments in the challenges of the rapidly changing fire service. Topics include assuming the role of company officer, introductions to leadership and management, fire service organization, legal issues facing the fire service, communications, health and safety, incident management, emergency response, on scene management and communications, and strategy and tactics for single company operations.
The course material is based on national fire officer qualifications under NFPA 1021. All Participants will complete a brief written project after each class which will reinforce the concepts discussed in class.
This Program is being delivered with support for and in partnership with the Maine Fire Service Institute.
Registration forms may be picked up at Mattanawcook Academy M-W 7am -3 pm or Th. 7am-11am and 5-7pm.
Come and create a boxwood tree with us at Creative Blooms. You will design and decorate your own boxwood tree. All materials will be provided. This class will be held at Creative Blooms in Lincoln, Sunday December 8th at 1PM. Fee for the class is $45.00. All registrations must be made and paid for in advance so we know how many will be attending and Creative Blooms will have enough supplies. Learn to make frosting, us a pastry bag, how to make and decorate a cake using modeling chocolate, texturing, edible paints, etc. You wil bring a prebaked case to each class with you we will furnish the decorating supplies. There is a $25.00 no refundable deposit and the remainder paid the first night of class.

Earn Your High School Diploma

You can now work on achieving your high school diploma at Mattanawcook Academy or at the Katahdin Higher Education Center.
HiSET pre-tests, test taking strategies and skill building are offered to prepare students for successful completion of the HiSET test.
HiSET Math Classes are offered: Monday & Tuesday 3-5 PM and Wednesday & Thursday 3:30-5:30 PM. Days are subject to change depending on enrollment.
HiSET Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies will be done on Plato or Zoom. Individual help with an instructor will be available of Fridays at 2:30 by appointments. Subject to change depending on enrollments.
These classes are all Free.
Essential Oils and their Benefits

What are essential oils? Where do they come from? How do we use them? Do you have lots of questions? Come get them all answeredand see first hand what essential oils are all about and how easy it is to use them yourself. This is a one night class where you will learn about the oils and make some mixtures to take home with you. There will be a $15.00 lab fee to be paid to the instructor.

Mommy & Me Cupcake Decorating – Come and decorate cupcakes in this fun family orientated class. We will have classes for Fall cupcakes and Christmas cupcakes. Dates and times will be determined once we have enough interest. $10 per adult - first child free, $5.00 for each child after one.
