Introduction to Metal Jewelry

Start with the basics of creating metal jewelry using copper and brass. Leave with beautiful pieces at the end of each lesson!! Most techniques learned are easily translated to sterling silver as well.
Class #1 - Intro to Metal. Learn the basics of cutting, sawing, filing, riveting and texturing metal. Learn to make clasps and ear wires.
Class #2 - Learn how copper reacts to heat. Learn fold forming, work hardening, annealing, pagination and polishing.
Class #3 - Basic Soldering. Make an Etruscan chain bracelet by torch soldering several chain links, then bending and weaving them together.
Class #4 - Torch fired enameling. Learn how to fuse colored powdered glass to the surface of copper with a basic propane torch.
Class #5 & #6 - Using the techniques learned in the previous class, design and fabricate a piece in your own artistic vision.

Fee: $45.00 for the class and $50.00 for the materials
